Poker glossary definition of Forced Bet
A forced bet is a mandatory wager in the first betting round that exists in various poker variants in different forms, like ante, blind, or bring-in.
- Antes are forced bets that every player must pay at the beginning of the round before the cards are dealt.
- Blinds are forced bets that only two players per round must pay before the cards are dealt.
- The bring-in is a forced bet in stud games that one player must pay after the cards are dealt. Which player pays is decided by the value of the door cards, the cards that a player has face up before him. It could be the player with the highest or the lowest door card.
